During the surge of U.S. tennis popularity, with stars such as McEnroe, Chang, Evert, Connors, Sampras, Davenport, Agassi, Courier, Austin, Williams and Fernandez, ENR architects developed a prospectus for the new, Clay West Tennis Center in North San Diego County. Brainshine Graphics & Advertising was instrumental in developing the Clay West logo and in producing conceptual rendings of the facility.

Southern California, being a hotbed of tennis development, was lacking clay court facilities. This market demand, coupled with the aging demographics, indicated that the clay court tennis, which is easier on the body than hard court tennis, held potential for generations of activity. New, automated capillary irrigation technology by Hydro Court and Har-Tru for clay courts proved to be a more consistent and water-efficient means of clay court construction.

Clay West Tennis Center sought to offer this style of recreation and competition for all ages, combined with swimming facilities, and bar & grill entertainment. The growing North San Diego County location of San Marcos is ideally suited to provide the regional community with this unique facility.

THE BENEFITS ARE MANY
Slower game, enabling a broader spectrum of abilities to enjoy.
Soft surface, which is easier on the body for all ages.
Cooler playing environment resulting from the evaporative surface.
Quicker playability after rain, due to porus surface.
Environmentally friendly materials and heat disapation.
