Showcar Garage & Guest Suite Addition

"We recently completed construction of a very large addition to our home. Eric was the architect. His work was excellent.

He is a creative designer with a keen sense of detail. Eric’s engineering background is an added plus. He is a patient listener and able to explain complicated architectural and construction issues in a clear and cogent matter.

During the construction he was very responsive; he was available when we needed him and an important participant in the construction process. Eric’s plans were detailed. As a result the construction although complicated was a success.

Eric took our vision and made it into a sophisticated yet truly inviting reality. We would use Eric again and highly recommend him."

SUMMARY

Showcar Barn & Guest Suite Addition with clerestory & folding wall glazing, carport, motor courtyard & sliding wood doors, architectural & structural design by ENR architects, Granbury, TX 76049

A local SoCal family recently purchased a multiple horse-corral ranch property and sought to add on to the home in two phases. Their dream was to convert the former 25-horse ranch, into a 6,000 horsepower, 12-space, sports car collection, including an attached, Guest Suite & Office.

The 1-story, 2,200sf existing home & 2-car, 530sf garage, now has an additional 2-car garage, 2-car covered parking, 8-car showcar garage, breezeways, office, and 2nd dwelling, as designed by ENR architects. 930sf Of living space, and 4,500sf of parking & breezeways have been added in a barn style, complimentary of the ranch neighborhood.

Abundant glazing fills the spaces with natural light & ventilation through clerestory windows, bi-fold window walls, French doors, and combination windows. Natural, glulam structural wood beams accent each space. The contemporary bathroom features sloped-floor shower/tub enclosure, and wall to ceiling cement plaster finishes. The Kitchen & Living Room are fitted with custom Shaker cabinets and rich, stone counters & splashes.

Allen Construction did marvelously attentive work throughout, and Chad Jones Photography did an amazing job of artfully capturing the details, without being overwhelmed by the brightness of the interiors contrasting with the dark cabinetry. The owners were meticulously involved in every design decision, feature placement, material choice, and fixture selection.

The entire project is a huge success! Features include: polished concrete floors, Hardi fibercement siding, trim & exterior soffits, Kolbe Vistaluxe windows & doors, custom Real Carriage barn doors, Icycnene Classic spray foam insulation, Fujitsu multi-zone heat pump HVAC, Certainteed Landmark roofing, Rinnai tankless water heating, and residential fire sprinklers. New, underground electrical service was installed at the 2nd Dwelling, and the existing house electrical panel was converted into a sub-panel. Phase-2 will include a wholehouse remodel & addition to the existing home, and a lap pool/spa.
